There are some destinations that immediately slow your breathing, where the pace of life feels gentler the moment you arrive. The Turkish Riviera, and in particular Olu Deniz, is one of those rare places.
With its crystal-clear waters, dramatic coastline and warm, generous hospitality, it’s easy to see why it continues to captivate travellers year after year.
We visited in August, when the temperatures regularly reached the high 30s and low 40s, but rather than detracting from the experience, it shaped our days in the most memorable way.
Early mornings were pure paradise. The air was warm but calm, the light soft over the mountains, and the sea impossibly clear and inviting. Swimming first thing, before the heat truly set in, felt almost meditative, floating in warm, turquoise water as the day gently woke up around us.
By around 11am, the sun was at its strongest and it was time to retreat into shade and cool spaces. Staying at the Liberty Lykia all-inclusive hotel made this effortless.
Rather than hiding away, we leaned into wellness, enjoying yoga and pilates sessions and making good use of the well-equipped gymnasium. It was the perfect way to stay active while escaping the midday heat, and it added a restorative rhythm to our holiday that we hadn’t expected but thoroughly appreciated.
Afternoons were happily unstructured too. Days drifted between the beach and the pools, with plenty of options to suit every mood. The hotel offers multiple pools and a separate waterpark, making it as appealing for families as it is for couples or groups.
In the main pool, there were regular organised watersport activities that added a fun, sociable energy, while the sea itself offered a quieter kind of adventure. Swimming out to the jetty and watching fish dart through the clear water was a simple pleasure, and for those seeking more adrenaline, there was no shortage of watersports available along the coastline.
Beyond the water, the resort’s facilities seemed endless. Football pitches and dedicated tennis courts meant there was always something happening, yet it never felt crowded or overwhelming, a testament to how thoughtfully the space is laid out.
Food, however, was one of the true highlights. At every time of day, the choice was exceptional. Freshly prepared dishes, vibrant salads made with the crispest ingredients, and an array of cuisines meant every meal felt like a treat rather than a routine.
Whether it was a leisurely breakfast, a light lunch to escape the heat, or a relaxed evening meal, every culinary wish felt not only met but anticipated.
Olu Deniz and the Turkish Riviera offer that rare combination of natural beauty, warmth, both in climate and character, and effortless luxury.
It’s a place that invites you to slow down, soak it all in, and leave already planning your return.
